You anesthetized Mr. Haines, a 67-year-old man, 84 kg, for an emergency Hartmann's procedure for perforated sigmoid diverticulitis with feculent peritonitis. He is still intubated. Intubation needed a video laryngoscope and a bougie after a failed first attempt with direct laryngoscopy. He received piperacillin-tazobactam at 14:10, 4.5 L of balanced crystalloid and no blood. He is on norepinephrine 0.18 mcg/kg/min and vasopressin 0.03 units/min; his last pressure was 94/52. Lactate went from 5.1 to 3.8 mmol/L. He made 30 mL of urine in the last 2 hours. His wife is in the family waiting room and has not been updated since surgery began.
You have just arrived in the ICU. The ICU fellow, Dr. Shah, is at the bedside with the ICU nurse.
Your task: hand off the patient to the ICU fellow.
