Interpretation of monitors and echocardiograms. A facilitator will play three separate scenarios, each from a different patient, and read every question aloud. Each recording plays once, you cannot go back to an earlier scenario, and the facilitator gives no extra information.5

  • Scenario 1, physiologic monitor only (about 2 minutes): what changed, and the most likely diagnosis.
  • Scenario 2, TEE or POCUS only (about 1.5 minutes): the findings, the most likely diagnosis, and your management plan.
  • Scenario 3, combined (about 2.5 minutes): a monitor recording first, then TEE or POCUS images from the same patient; describe both and give the most likely diagnosis.

You have about 60 seconds to answer each scenario. This station leans on the ventilator: pressure and flow waveforms, a flow–volume loop, and lung ultrasound.

Your task: answer each question in the order it is asked, and say what you see before you name the diagnosis.
